Dictation recorded by Thomas Savage for H.H. Bancroft, relating mainly to his experiences as a soldier at Santa Barbara; with account of searches for fugitive Indians, activities of the pirate Bouchard in southern California, José Estudillo's 1823 expedition to the Colorado River, Indian uprisings at La Purísima and at Santa Barbara, and the Solis revolt.
